NICU appreciation and future plans

 

So for the past year or so, I've been trying to figure out what it is I want to do for the rest of my life. I've always known that I wanted to be a nurse, who works with babies, but there are so many different kinds in that field, midwife, labor and delivery, nursery, etc. I've always wanted to do whatever one would allow me to make a real difference and be able to help people. After months of back and forth, I've finally figured it out. Neo-natal nurses work with babies who were born prematurely. Normally the thought of holding such a precious delicate life in my hands would terrify me, one mistake and that little one who hasn't even begun their life, could lose it, but the ability to be able to give that child their life back, and give them a real fighting chance, is so amazing. My sister in law, Kristin, works in the NICU at IHC and a part of me always knew that that would be what I would want to do too. My decision became solidified when I stumbled upon this video, it is truly amazing! It shows what that kind of job is all about, and how remarkable NICU nurses are. Ever since I"ve made my decision, I've been doing everything possible to reach my goal, I enrolled in the MATC program, so I'll have my CNA before the school year is out. If everything goes according to plan, I'll go to UVU and enter into their nursing program, and graduate with my BSN. My ultimate goal right now is to work in the NICU at IHC. Alyssa is still debating between labor and delivery and NICU, but either way, we'll be going to UVU together and be in the program together, and both of us want to work at IHC, so working with my best friend is a definite plus!

So not only am I lucky enough to have a nephew, I'm also going to be having a niece soon too! Jamie and Bray are supposed to be due end of December, but due to some complications with the placenta covering the cervix, we may even end up with an early Christmas present! Nothings for sure yet, and the baby's health is first priority, but I definitely have no arguments to meeting this sweet little girl early(: I can't wait to see Jamie and Braden become parents, I know they're going to be so amazing at it! They recently completed the nursery and it is too cute! The simplicity of it is perfect, and the whole things looks really beautiful. I can't wait to spoil this baby girl, I'm pretty sure 70% of my time is spent looking for outfits and toys for them. See you soon Weslie Marie DiCristofano! Meet baby Mckai!

I know I'm a few months late posting about this, but Kris and Tris finally had their first kid, and my first nephew, McKai Nicholas DiCristofano. He was born on July 24, 2015 at 11:38 PM. He weighed 5 pounds 1 ounce. He was born almost 2 weeks early. Kristin had to get induced early because the little munchkin was measuring 34 weeks, but he was 38 almost 39 weeks. He is seriously a blessing! I definitely win the best nephew award because he is seriously perfect! He rarely cries (mostly just complains to let you know that he isn't happy) and he is the happiest baby in the world! He will sit there and just smile at you for no reason, I don't think I've ever met a baby who smiles as much as McKai, seriously he is just a genuinely happy baby!!(: My whole family is so crazy about him, we all try to find any excuse to steal him from whoever's holding him, and keep him to ourselves(:

2 Weeks vs 6 Weeks! He has been growing so fast! I want him to stay little!

Baby Boom!

So, I have some very exciting news! BOTH my sister in laws are pregnant!! and not only are my sister in laws pregnant, but my cousin is pregnant too! I am finally going to be an aunt(: Let me tell you a little bit about my sissy's and my soon to be growing family!


 Kristin:

This is Kristin and Tristan. Tris is my oldest brother. The were highschool sweethearts, and are literally one of the all time cutest couples. They have the kind of relationship most people would die for! Their baby boy, McKai is due August 3rd 2015! I couldnt be more excited to meet him. They will be some of the most amazing parents, and Kacee (Their dog that believes shes more of a human, than most actual humans) will be the best big sister ever!

Jamie:

Jamie and Braden. Braden is my second oldest brother. These two are totally perfect for eachother, They bring out some of the best versions of themselves. Jamie is due end of December 2015. They dont know the gender yet, but my moneys on a girl. Braden feels like its going to be a girl too. They just got a house, and are going to start their beautiful little family, in their sweet little home.

I cant even put into words how stoked I am to meet the little baby boos, Aunt Ash plans on spoiling them rotten. I love my growing family, my beautiful sis's and my amazing brothers. I have so much love for the little ones already.
